UCLA Football: Chip Kelly Has Interesting Take on Deion Sanders and Colorado's Transfer Portal Strategy
The UCLA Bruins face off against Colorado in the next matchup on their Pac-12 conference schedule.
Deion Sanders' takeover of the one-win program has turned plenty of heads from both supporters and critics of his practices.
Many things factored into the Buffaloes' revival this year but UCLA head coach Chip Kelly mentioned the transfer portal as a key to the program's rise in 2023.
“It’s just a new era. When I came in five years ago, six years ago you couldn’t do that,” Kelly said. “Now you can. It’s just how you do it and how you choose. I think you evaluate the players in the program and see where they are, then can you get players to upgrade at the position? That’s what Deion’s done.”

An undefeated start for the Buffaloes gave them plenty of national hype but a blowout loss to Oregon in their first test of the season left them open to criticism.
Recent losses to both USC and Stanford before their bye week made criticism even louder but the Buffaloes now face off against the Bruins in another conference test.
The Bruins remain on the fringes of the AP Top 25 but now rank ahead of cross-town rival Trojans thanks to their conference losses.
UCLA's defeats both came on the road to Oregon State and Utah but they'll enjoy some home cooking against college football's hottest story.
No matter who comes out on top, the teams involved will surely draw headlines no matter what.
