UCLA Football: Ethan Garbers Talks Dante Moore Relationship As Both Vie For Starting QB
When UCLA announced that they were benching true freshman quarterback Dante Moore for Ethan Garbers prior to their game against Stanford, it was seen as a bit of a surprise. After all, Moore had been the starter the last few weeks and was gaining valuable experience under center.
But the Bruins don't have time to allow Moore to gain experience, and they want to create a successful season. And with how Garbers played on Saturday, they may have a real chance to do so moving forward.
Garbers spoke about his relationship with Moore after the game and how each one of them watches each other's back, no matter who is starting.
“We support each other in anything we do — I look for his success, he looks for mine,” Garbers said. “Honestly, it’s just a good relationship that we have. It’s nice to just bounce some ideas or thoughts that you have off of a guy who’s in pretty much the same position you are. He’s been great, he’s a great kid and he’s a great ballplayer.”

Garbers may get the start going forward, as he looked much more confident against Stanford. The Bruins needed a bounce-back game from the offense, and Garbers delivered. Now, as the team gets ready for Colorado this coming week, things could remain the same.
The Bruins do have two losses, but there is still a chance for them to salvage their season if they can win out. If they were to do so, the Pac-12 title is within reach, and it could see them sticking with the more experienced quarterback.
Moore showed promise in a few games, but the lack of experience also seemed to get to him. It cost the Bruins in their two losses, and they want to make sure that they don't suffer any more wasted opportunities the rest of the way.
