UCLA Football: Where Bruins Rank in Coaches’ Poll Following Week 2 Win
UCLA took care of business on the road Saturday -- discarding the hometown San Diego State Aztecs by a score of 35-10. The score wasn't that close, and the Bruins could've easily won the game by 40+ had Chip Kelly not taken his foot off the gas pedal.
In the wake of the win, the Bruins find themselves ranked in the Associated Press's Top 25.
From there, many were wondering as to whether UCLA would also appear in the Coaches' Poll. Well, the results are in:
The Bruins were able to make an appearance in the Coaches Poll -- coming in at No. 25. In the AP Poll, UCLA ranks No. 24.
In what's looking like the final year of the Pac-12 (as we know it), irony has come down in droves from the proverbial Football Gods. The Pac-12 has a whopping 8 (!) teams in the AP Poll. Within the Coaches Poll, seven Pac-12 teams were selected:
Coaches Poll (as of Week 2):
- No. 5: USC
- No. 8: Washington
- No. 12: Utah
- No. 13: Oregon
- No. 17: Oregon State
- No. 21: Colorado
- No. 25: UCLA
The Pac-12 is off to a tremendous start thus far. It's gone 18-3 in non-conference games thus far. Utah knocked off both Florida and Baylor in consecutive weeks. Colorado won at TCU and blew out Nebraska.
Washington thumped Boise State, UCLA destroyed San Diego State on the road, and Washington State handled a ranked Wisconsin squad.
The three losses were also quite competitive. Auburn clipped Cal at the very end of the game by four points. Arizona lost in overtime at Mississippi State. Lastly, Oklahoma State defeated ASU by 12 points.
UCLA finishes its non-conference schedule next week at home versus North Carolina Central. Assuming the Bruins take care of business, it'll set up a very interesting conference clash between UCLA and Utah in Salt Lake City.
