Discussions about the future of the Pac-12 have many in the college athletics sphere wondering what's next to come for UCLA considering their announced move away from the conference.

For Bruins head basketball coach Mick Cronin, he had much to say about the move to the Big 12 and the future of collegiate sports.

The problem is the public doesn't understand the scope of why it's all even happening. They don't realize the athletic department at UCLA is 25 sports and 700 kids on scholarship the university has to pay. There's about four athletic departments that actually make money in the entire nation because of scholarship bills and budget expenses. It's all happened because of money, that's just the reality of it. It's not all because of football. What I would tell you is that this is not the end all fix. This is far from over. We're not the first school to do it. It's been going on for a long, long time. And NONE of it is in the best interest of the student athlete, no matter what ANYbody says. It's in the best interest of more money to cover the bills. That's it.

Skeptics have long wondered what's to come of the Pac-12 given not just UCLA moving to a different conference, but USC, Colorado and Oregon set to follow suit in the near future.

Despite rumors that football was the main cause for such a drastic decision, Cronin's thoughts were clear that it was much more complicated than such a baseless accusation.

Though some new matchups in new locations are sure to bring new excitement for the future of college athletics across the nation, one can only wonder who's next and more importantly what's to come of every conference that's still standing.
