UCLA's 2006 Sweet 16 Victory Over Gonzaga Coined Among Biggest 'What If' Games Ever
As sports fans, the beauty of highlights and old games being so easy to access is that everybody can look back at some of the greatest battles ever and think to themselves, "What if this game went in a different direction?"
Specifically when it comes to college basketball, this is very popular thanks to the annual NCAA March Madness tournament. Single game elimination, busted brackets and huge upsets all lead to entire fanbases either crumbling or growing even stronger. Your UCLA Bruins have been on both sides over the past couple of decades and specially when it comes to matching up with the Gonzaga Bulldogs, their duels have come down to the wire. Amari Bailey's go-ahead three just a couple months ago meant nothing as Gonzaga pulled out the win and we also remember Jalen Suggs' insane heave to send us home as well.
However, when taking a look at some of the NCAA's biggest 'What If?' games of all time, ESPN's Myron Medcalf took a look at a different UCLA Sweet 16 match against Gonzaga in which the Bruins actually came out on top after an insane comeback.
"Gonzaga led by 17 late in the first half and by 14 midway through the second. But UCLA's comeback -- coined "Heartbreak City" -- robbed the Bulldogs of a trip to the Elite Eight that might have elevated Mark Few's profile and prompted him to consider other coaching opportunities earlier in his career."

UCLA went on to make it all the way to the national championship game but unfortunately fell 73-57 to Florida after a dominant performance by Joakim Noah. We hope that the Bruins can avenge themselves within these next couple of years and whenever they see Gonzaga in the tournament, business is business.
