UCLA Football: Bruins Lose Out On 4-Star 2024 RB After De-Commitment
Tyler High (Tyler, TX) running back Derrick McFall is back on the market. After committing to UCLA back in August despite never taking an official visit to Westwood, McFall told On3's Chad Simmons that he has de-committed from UCLA. On3 Sports lists him as a four-star athlete and the 62nd-best recruit coming out of Texas in the 2024 class.
McFall told On3 that he de-committed because, “I feel like it’s the best choice for me and my family. I like UCLA, but I feel like it doesn’t fit me outside of football."
He also mentioned to On3 that he will be still considering UCLA as his final home, but also wants to consider UTSA, Kansas State, Missouri, SMU.
"I have an official visit to Missouri on Dec. 15. I already took my official at SMU and I’m getting K-State and UTSA lined up." McFall told On3.
McFall was the only four-star prospect that was committed to UCLA in their 2024 class and was probably the most important recruit of the 12 when he was committed.
247Sports is reporting that NIL opportunities will likely play a big factor in McFall's recruitment. Ironically, the official NIL collective of UCLA football Men of Westwood just released a video in an effort to ramp up their donations.
Luckily for the Bruins, they have another running back prospect committed to their 2024 class in Cameron Jones. He is not as versatile as a weapon as McFall, but Jones will give the UCLA running back room some much-needed power.
