UNC Basketball Backcourt Co-Star Applauds RJ Davis' Record-Setting Night
On Friday night, RJ Davis was a top-shelf scorer. That's no surprise, given the UNC basketball senior guard's now-eight straight outings with 20 points or more. His 10 assists — part of a record-setting Tar Heel stat line — marked the emerging ACC Player of the Year frontrunner's season high and only the second time in his four-year Tar Heel career that he has hit double digits in that column.
UNC's blowout win, fueled by a season-high 20 assists, was the program's largest margin of victory under Hubert Davis.
Afterward, RJ Davis' fellow UNC basketball backcourt starter in crafty passer Elliot Cadeau, still the squad's leading distributor at 3.7 assists per game, gave a shoutout to his teammate's undeniably "contagious" playmaking:
"I mean, it's great. I always think that unselfishness is contagious, so to see him, the best scorer in the country to come out and get 10 assists really says a lot for us, for example.
"It was contagious because everybody was sharing the ball."
All five starters had at least one assist, and the Tar Heels got three more dimes from the reserves. Still, RJ Davis had half of them.
