UNC Basketball: Where Harrison Ingram Ranks Among Nation's Transfers
In his first year in Chapel Hill since transferring from Stanford, UNC basketball junior forward Harrison Ingram has been a difference-maker for the ninth-ranked Tar Heels (7-2, 1-0 ACC).
And the 21-year-old has been consistent with his contributions. He's yet to finish a game in a UNC basketball jersey with fewer than 10 points.
As a full-time starter through nine contests, Ingram is the squad's second-leading scorer.
The 6-foot-7, 235-pound bruiser is averaging 15.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 48.5 percent the field, 46.3 percent from deep as a volume 3-point threat (2.1 makes per game), and 62.2 percent at the charity stripe.
In the eyes of On3's Jamie Shaw, those numbers and his overall impact in embracing his duties are deserving of a spot at No. 8 this week (No. 1 in the ACC) among the nation's transfers:
"What a difference a change in role can make for a player. Harrison Ingram has been asked to be a featured player for Stanford over the past two seasons. This year, he transferred to UNC, in a role where he is a connecting piece alongside RJ Davis and Armando Bacot. In that supporting role, Ingram has shined."
Harrison Ingram and the Tar Heels next face No. 14 Kentucky (7-2, 0-0 SEC) in Atlanta's State Farm Arena on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET (CBS) as part of the CBS Sports Classic. It'll be UNC basketball's first outing since losing to No. 5 UConn, 87-76, in Madison Square Garden last Tuesday night.
