Southern Durham High School (N.C.) junior Jackson Keith has been on an unofficial UNC basketball visit this fall and welcomed coaches to his school for a check-in. Even so, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound wing, a four-star sitting at No. 72 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, has yet to report an offer from the Tar Heels.

However, he's mentioned UNC in seemingly every interview since, including his recent one with On3's Jamie Shaw. Keith implied to Shaw that the interest out of Chapel Hill has grown to include more than just brief chats with third-year head coach Hubert Davis.

"I'm hearing a lot from UNC," he said. "Me and Coach Davis have started to build up a relationship, and I've been over there a couple of times."

Keith noted to Shaw that he and his family have not given much thought to official visits, even though he can begin taking them now as a high school junior. He added that Virginia, NC State, Tennessee, and VCU "have been the most consistent" in his recruitment. He's also heard from Providence, Ohio State, and Butler.

Judging by Jackson Keith's comments, there's probably no rush in the UNC basketball recruiters officially entering the fray for the smooth bucket-getter. Still, he's worth eyeing as a potential target in the coming months as things begin to shake out with the Tar Heels' other pursuits.

On Wednesday, Davis and his crew extended their ninth 2025 offer by joining the mix for top-ranked forward AJ Dybantsa. None of the Tar Heels' targets in the cycle have either committed or publicly eliminated UNC from consideration.

All nine are five-star prospects.
