UNC Football Drops From One Poll, Slides in Other
Following a 46-42 loss at Georgia Tech (4-4, 3-2 ACC), UNC football's second straight defeat at the hands of an unranked opponent after getting out to a 6-0 start this season, the Tar Heels (6-2, 3-2 ACC) no longer appear in the AP Top 25 Poll. They peaked at No. 10 only two weeks ago.
However, they are second among "others receiving votes" with 54 votes.
And UNC fell only eight spots to No. 25 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
Meanwhile, Florida State (8-0, 6-0 ACC) ranks No. 4 in both polls. Louisville (7-1, 4-1 ACC) jumped three spots (in both) and now sits at No. 15 in both polls.
Now, the Seminoles and Cardinals are the only two teams from the ACC in the AP Top 25 and the only two outside of UNC in the Coaches Poll. Duke (5-3, 2-2 ACC) was the only squad to drop out of the Coaches Poll this week; the Blue Devils, who suffered a 23-0 loss at Louisville, also fumbled away their AP ranking.
As for Mack Brown's reeling Tar Heels, who began the season at No. 21 in the AP Top 25 and had been in the top 20 ever since the Week 1 edition, they host Campbell at noon ET Saturday before welcoming archrival Duke to Kenan Memorial Stadium in Week 11.
