UNC football defensive lineman Kedrick Bingley-Jones has a few years of eligibility remaining. But the fourth-year Tar Heel now intends to suit up elsewhere, as he announced on Monday that he'll be entering the transfer portal.

This season, the 6-foot-4, 305-pound Bingley-Jones saw action in only four games, recording two solo tackles, including one for a loss.

Here's part of the statement the Providence Day product from Concord, N.C., posted on social media:

"I would first like to thank God for putting me in a position and allowing me to graduate from a school I love and play a sport I am passionate about. I am so blessed and I thank God for every opportunity I have and for guiding me on my path...

"Having spent the last four years at Carolina here have truly been a dream come true. I have loved being a part of this campus community. I am excited to graduate this semester from UNC with my degree. My time at UNC has been so special, and I wouldn't trade these past four years for the world.

"After much thought, discussions with my family, and prayer, I have decided to enter the transfer portal...

"I will forever be a Tar Heel and a proud soon-to-be alum! #41."

Kedrick Bingley-Jones arrived in Chapel Hill in 2020 as a four-star prospect, ranking No. 151 overall and No. 6 in North Carolina on the 247Sports 2020 Composite. But he totaled only eight tackles across his 26 games as a Tar Heel.
