As is the case with over half of the 2024 UNC football class, Zion Ferguson will enroll early in January.

All seven four-star UNC football signees hail from either North Carolina or Georgia. Defensive back Zion Ferguson, who flipped his commitment from LSU to the Tar Heels during his visit to Chapel Hill in June, is one of the four from "The Peach State."

The Gainesville (Ga.) standout ranks No. 393 overall, No. 33 among cornerbacks, and No. 46 in his state on the 247Sports 2024 Composite.

After Ferguson made his commitment official by signing his national letter of intent on Wednesday, UNC posted the following hype video and highlights to welcome the 6-foot, 175-pound speedster to the program:

Here's a summary of Ferguson's strengths from 247Sports' Don Callahan:

"As his interception numbers show (eight picks in the last two seasons in one of the most competitive areas of the country), Ferguson is a ball-hawking defensive back, who immediately looks for the end zone on INTs (three pick-sixes as a senior). Like many DBs in his area, the 6-foot, 175-pounder understands his position and is fundamentally sound. Though he played cornerback in high school, he may benefit from a move to safety in college."

For now, UNC football's 27-deep 2024 collection, the largest Tar Heel recruiting haul in 15 years, ranks No. 26 in the country.
