The USC Trojans secured their first win of 2024 with an 82-74 victory over the California Golden Bears. Starting a mini-three-game home stand on a positive note, the Trojans displayed a balanced offensive effort, with five players scoring in double figures.
Five-year-old guard Boogie Ellis led the charge who contributed 15 points on 7-for-12 shooting, along with eight rebounds and seven assists. The supporting cast included forward DJ Rodman with 11 points, guard Kobe Johnson with 14, guard Isaiah Collier with 13, and freshman guard Bronny James adding 10 points in 18 minutes.
The Trojans showcased efficient shooting, finishing with a 53.2% field goal percentage and 39.3% from beyond the arc. They also exhibited solid ball control, committing fewer turnovers than the Golden Bears. Despite being evenly matched in rebounding with 31 each, the Trojans' overall performance helped them break a streak of five losses in their last six games.
While the Golden Bears may be struggling in the early part of the season, this win was crucial for the Trojans to overcome their recent challenges and set a positive tone for the upcoming games.
