USC Basketball: Bronny James Drafted In Second Round Of Latest Jonathan Givony Mock
USC freshman guard Bronny James isn't having the season we all thought he'd have. However, the start of his season was not ideal, as he suffered from a cardiac arrest in July 2023.
Luckily, he recovered quickly and played in his first college game in early December. James has struggled at times in his first; however, that isn't stopping NBA teams from thinking about grabbing him this off-season via the draft if he declares.
It's unclear whether that will happen, but there's no doubt he will declare to the NBA whenever he decides to jump to the pro level. ESPN's Jonathan Givony believes he will stay another year in college and has him being taken in the second round of the 2025 NBA draft.
Givony has the Portland Trailblazers selecting James with the 39th overall pick.
Depending on how big of a jump James could potentially make if he returns to school, an early second-round pick would be huge. With three games remaining in the regular season, James' numbers don't jump off the page.
The 19-year-old averages 5.5 points on 37.1% shooting, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. His offensive game may be shaky, but he thrives as a defender and excels in the open court.
Bronny's father, Lakers superstar LeBron James, tweeted a pair of tweets about his son's draft projections that he later deleted. James said people care too much about where his son would go in the NBA and how he says his son is just working, not caring about what a mock draft says.
There's a possibility Bronny will declare after his freshman season.
