USC Basketball: Galen Center Underwent Offseason Facelift
Prior to the start of the 2023-2024 men's and women's basketball seasons, USC gave the Galen Center a makeover.
USC decided that they wanted to modernize the Galen Center, especially from parts that felt outdated heading into the season.
Jeff Fucci, the senior associate athletic director for USC, acknowledged the significance of these updates for Trojan athletics.
“The entire athletic department recognizes how great Galen Center can look with this refresh, and people are already asking about the next phase,” Fucci said. “We’ve got great facilities at USC, incredible student-athletes, and compete in the top sports media market, but we have to keep pushing forward, and we can aspire for even more than what we have today. We are excited for what will come next at Galen Center.”
USC has made multiple updates to boost the Galen Center, starting with the 3400 lounge, a premium space to host guests. The Trojans also revamped the Galen Center Founders Club with new floors, TVs, and a decked-out patio.
These updates also pay tribute to all the great teams the Galen Center has seen over the years, with new banners highlighting their previous national and conference championship-winning squads.
This renovation is also expected to pay off with recruiting. Beyond NIL and other factors, the quality of facilities and extra amenities is essential to appeal to incoming recruits and athletes.
"Photo shoots have become such a big part of the recruiting process,” Fucci said. “We want our visiting recruits to envision what it would be like to be a USC student-athlete."
All in all, the renovations seem to be paying off. The Galen Center has hosted big celebrities as of late, including Will Ferrell. On top of these appearances, they have one of the best NCAA athletes in freshman phenom JuJu Watkins. These combined attractions should only continue to bring in more athletes, special guests, and championships to USC and the Galen Center.
