USC Basketball: Incoming Trojans Commit Lands All-American Nod
Future USC Trojan Trent Perry received a huge honor Tuesday when he was named a 2024 McDonald's All-American. The six-foot-four Harvard Westlake student was one of 24 high school basketball players named to the All-American teams.
This is a great sign for the Trojans, who are working on building their team. Right now, the Trojans are 8-11 and have lost their three games. While injuries have played a role in their lack of success, USC is still not where they want to be this year. USC won at least 20 games in each of their past four seasons, but are in jeopardy of missing that mark with only 12 games remaining in the regular season.
Adding Perry should help. The high school standout has a scout grade of 89/100 and is ranked No. 26 on ESPN's top 100 prospects. During his junior season, Perry averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists, which earned him offers from some of the top schools. Now, he's finishing up his senior year for Harvard Westlake.
Perry signed with the Trojans on October 13, 2023. The Studio City based point guard chose to stay local and picked USC over other schools including Cal, Notre Dame, Santa Clara, Stanford, UCLA and Vanderbilt. He chose USC in part because of his relationship with coach Andy Enfield, and the Trojans moving the Big Ten, which will help bring in more media attention.
