USC Basketball: Scouts Project 2024 NBA Draft Position For Bronny James
At long last, the world has now seen what Bronny James can do on the court. Though he had a minutes restriction during his debut with the USC Trojans, he made every one of those minutes count.
Bronny was all over the court, engaging in a huge behind-the-back block, just like his father. His first points as a Trojan was also a three-pointer from deep, making him seem more and more like LeBron. Though yesterday was only a small sample size, scouts are now projecting where Bronny could end up being drafted.
It may seem like a bit premature given he was only in one game for a brief period, but that could be enough to sway scouts one way or the other.
Jeff Goodman of The Messenger stated:
“The hope is that Bronny can stay healthy and impact USC for the remainder of the season,” Goodman wrote. “LeBron [James], who turns 39 later this month, has made it no secret that he yearns to play with his son in the NBA before he calls it a career. The NBA execs I’ve spoken to have been intrigued by Bronny’s game and development, but most slotted him as a late first-rounder in a weak NBA draft. That was also prior to the heart issues.”

Bronny coming up as a first-rounder makes a ton of sense if his skills on the court translate to more of what everyone saw yesterday. Though he could be viewed as a late first-rounder in this "weak NBA draft," others are not so convinced.
A scout who spoke to Goodman also revealed that Bronny might not be a "lottery pick" or a first-rounder.
"He’s a very good defender,” the NBA scout told Goodman. “Strong, athletic, good ball-mover, some potential as a shooter. Limited ability to create his own shot. I don’t see him as a lottery pick or maybe even a first-rounder.”

Again, the idea of Bronny's draft position might be totally premature, but there is a ton of excitement around the young player, and naturally so. Bronny comes from arguably the greatest NBA player of all time, and he has shown that he is plenty up to the task of carrying on the James legacy.
We will just have to wait and see how his former cardiac arrest issue alters his draft position, and his ability to play more this season with the USC Trojans.
