Even though the USC Trojans are just 10-16 overall and 4-11 in the Pac-12, they don't feel that they are far off from the rest of their conference and the top college hoops teams.

USC's Kobe Johnson was adamant about that sentiment following the Trojans' double overtime loss to Colorado.

“Nobody likes losing," Johnson said. "Nobody wants to lose but I still believe in this team. The record may say something else but I know you know we got the talent and we got the guys on this team to make a run. We just got to be able to clean up the little details. That's really all it is. We're right there. These close games, we gotta be able to do all this stuff, the little details to clean it up and win these games. I still believe in us. Everybody's still got confidence in each other. We're just gonna keep playing every game as hard as we can and see where it takes us.”

Though this season is far from what the Trojans hoped for in preseason, Johnson's not entirely wrong. The Trojans have been in some close games — like their latest loss to Colorado, the fifth best team in the Pac-12 — and have not been able to close them out. It's not unreasonable to think that they could be in a much better spot if they were winning these games.

Outside of closing games, the Trojans were bit by the injury bug this season. Losing five-star Isaiah Collier for over a month certainly hurt USC significantly, and the team has already improved their scoring significantly since his return.

The Trojans can certainly earn some more wins this season and end the year on a good note, but they likely will have to wait until next year for a full turnaround.
