USC Men's Basketball: Writer Proposes Huge Trade That Sends Former Trojans Guard to Boston Celtics
With the NBA still in the offseason and college basketball teams just starting to see some early action again, basketball fans have been busy cooking up hypothetical trades and big moves that could take place this year.
Former USC Trojans guard Kevin Porter Jr. has found himself at the center of one of the biggest trade proposals made by Fadeaway World's Lee Tran. Porter suited up for the Trojans during the 2018-2019 season and averaged around nine points on 31 percent from the three-point line.
Porter's silky smooth handles and southpaw finishing has always drawn him comparisons to superstar James Harden and those only strengthened once he was traded to the Houston Rockets from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
But could the 6'5 playmaker find his way to a new home now after three seasons with the Rockets where he was experimented with at point guard and a part of a young core that has plenty of ball-handlers? It will ultimately be up to Houston to decide if they want Porter to get his touches along with the likes of Jalen Green. Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr. and more.
Tran's proposed trade has Porter ending up with the Boston Celtics in a four-team deal... here are the full details:
"Dallas Mavericks Receive: Buddy Hield, Robert Williams
Boston Celtics Receive: Kevin Porter Jr., 2028 Second-Round Pick (MIA via DAL)
Indiana Pacers Receive: Christian Wood, Payton Pritchard
Houston Rockets Receive: Tim Hardaway Jr., Josh Green
There definitely is a lot going on here but all of these teams would be bringing in guys that they could use.
Boston would obviously be losing an elite rim protector in Robert Williams and a young scorer in Payton Pritchard but they have a new big in Kristaps Porzingis and Pritchard has expressed desires of being on a different team in the past.
Bringing in Porter would allow Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to have yet another ball-handler and shot-creator with them. This is just a proposal for now but it would be interesting to see if the Celtics would show interest should Porter become available.
