USC Women's Basketball: 3 Selfless New Trojans Helping JuJu Watkins-Centric Offense
It's no secret that it's the JuJu Watkins show for USC women's basketball. The thirteen-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week and record-breaking freshman is special and one of the best college hoops players.
However, she does have a strong supporting cast. Watkins would be great practically anywhere, but her teammates and surrounding cast have definitely played a part in her reaching the level of success she's seen this year.
Three of these teammates are transfers including McKenzie Forbes, Kaitlyn Davis and Kayla Padilla.
USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb broke down how Watkins' teammates have played a part in her strong freshman campaign.
“I think they all came here to win, they all came here to play in the NCAA tournament ... just to make their mark on this program and they have. How they have treated Ju, and how they have interacted with her has just been phenomenal on a lot of levels," Gottlieb said. "There seems to be an awareness that they’re playing with this phenomenal young kid in her freshman year and that will be the case forever.”

Despite transferring to USC for their own shot at success, they have helped set up Watkins to be the team star. They've also helped USC rank third in a competitive Pac-12 this year, and seventh in the AP's Top 25 during this final week of the regular season.
Though Watkins of course deserves all the accolades, praise and credit she's received this season, her teammates merit credit too. These three transfers are also important to USC's level of play across the board, and it's evident why the Trojans brought them over, even if Watkins sees most of the headlines.
