USC Women's Basketball: Trojans Rise in AP Rankings After Six-Game Win Streak
The USC Trojans are on a hot streak right now, as the team has picked up their last six games with a win. Two of those six wins were against #3 ranked Stanford and #9 ranked Oregon State.
JuJu Watkins has been on fire, as one of those games resulted in the phenom freshman scoring 51 points. Watkins's high-level play has been coupled with stars like Kayla Padilla and McKenzie Forbes, transforming this team into a tough opponent.
Based on the past six games, the Trojans have now leaped up higher in the top 10 for this week's AP rankings.
The Trojans are now ranked #7 in the nation, which is three spots higher than they had been last week. So far, the team has seen their highest spot being #6, and they are nearly back at that same spot.
As stated, Watkins has been on a tear this season, and she has truly come alive in recent weeks. Her 51-point game is just a testament to how skillful she truly is. Watkins's emergence as a leader and inspiration has led to the overall team playing a lost faster and tougher.
There is still far more basketball to play, but this team could be suited for a deep run when the NCAA Tournament begins.
