5-star quarterback says USC, Alabama, Texas and Georgia will likely be among finalists
Earlier this year, ESPN ranked the top overall high school football recruits made up of the 2024, 2025 and 2026 classes. Julian Lewis, a class of 2026 QB from Georgia, was named the No. 1 prospect.
Lewis has already visited USC a couple of times and although it's still very early in his recruitment, the five-star prospect told 247Sports.com's Greg Biggins that he hopes to make a commitment after his second year of high school football.
“I would love to be able to commit after my sophomore year if I can,” Lewis said. “I want to lock it in early so the trips I’m taking are big."
Lewis went on to say that while he doesn't have a list of his top schools yet, he has a pretty good idea about a few schools that will make the cut when he trims the programs down.
"I still have a lot of schools on my list but I’m pretty confident Alabama, Texas, USC and Georgia will be on there when I do eventually cut things down," he said.
In his first year of high school, Lewis led Carrolton (Ga.) to the 7A state championship game in Georgia. He threw for 4,118 yards and 48 touchdowns in 15 games.
“USC has a lot of football history of great quarterbacks,” Lewis told 247Sports.com's Steve Wiltfong after a January trip to USC. “Coach Riley is really cool. How he develops quarterbacks and what he’s done with the guys he’s coached is amazing."
