USC Football: Pundit Worried About This Element Of Trojans' Play In November

The Trojans' schedule doesn't let up down the stretch...
In this story:

After a poor showing against Notre Dame this past weekend, your USC Trojans now have a chance to regroup and refocus themselves. It was a bad outing all around for USC, and now their margin for error just became that much smaller going forward.

They entered the season with goals of going undefeated, winning the Pac-12 and ultimately winning the championship. They have lost access to one of their goals with their upset 48-20 loss this weekend, but the other two are still within reach.

USC gets to face the Utah Utes this week, and they should be fired up to face the only team to beat them a season ago. But their schedule still remains very tough down the stretch, and it could cost them a chance at the College Football Playoff.

“The USC defense didn’t lose the Notre Dame game, but it remains vulnerable to Washington and Oregon in November. It’s hard to say the defense is worse than last year — it seems slightly better — but it is not dramatically better, either. That defense will need to be significantly better for USC to reach a championship standard.”

The defense has been a real problem this season, and it seems that they could be held back from meeting their goals once again. It didn’t cause the loss to Notre Dame, but it certainly didn’t help things.

With Washington and Oregon still to come, the Trojans need to figure something out on that side of the ball. The Trojans can’t afford another loss on their resume, otherwise, their goals of winning a title will be gone.

‘Washington looks like a better team. Oregon does, too. If USC doesn’t win the Pac-12, the season is a failure, period.”

USC must enter every game with a win-or-go-home mindset the rest of the way. The fate of their season depends on it, and things just got very tough for them moving forward.
