USC Football: Brenden Rice Officially Declares for NFL Draft
The USC Trojans may not have achieved a national championship, but the program has certainly been instrumental in coaching up young NFL hopefuls. Everyone knows that quarterback Caleb Williams is likely to be picked #1 overall, but he isn't the only player on the team who is ready for the pros.
Wide receiver Brenden Rice has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that he has officially declared for the draft.
Rice is leaving behind the Trojans having amassed a 203 campaign with 791 yards, 12 TDs, 45 receptions, and a 17.6 YPC.
The young receiver should get plenty of looks from NFL teams in need of a speedy receiver to join their ranks. Brenden is the son of Jerry Rice, who is widely considered the greatest wide receiver to play in the NFL, and it appears he is following exactly what his legendary father accomplished.
Brenden had a bit of fun with his father, who was shown putting on his Super Bowl rings and flipping off Philadelphia Eagles fans, as both teams battled it out last Sunday.
Rice could easily be a 1st round pick, though he might be a high 2nd round as well. There is no telling if the Eagles are to land Rice, or even target one in the draft with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in their ranks.
Brenden Rice might not play in the Holiday Bowl, which will take place on December 27th. However, he has been invited to the Senior Bowl, which will take place on February 3rd.
The young receiver might want to skip out on the Holiday Bowl to further train and get himself ready for the 32 NFL teams that will be sending scouts in to see the college talent during the Senior Bowl. Either way, we fully expect Rice to be drafted when the 2024 NFL Draft takes place.
