USC Football: Expert Predicts Whether Bears Will Keep Or Trade No. 1 Pick, Caleb Williams Draft Rights

Will the USC star quarterback land in the Mid-West?

The 2024 NFL Draft will soon be upon us, and this class is as loaded as ever. The draft is stacked with skill players, especially at the QB level.

The 2024 quarterback class is loaded with star players, and headlining them all is USC's very own 2022 Heisman trophy winner, Caleb Williams. I know, I said, you could do no wrong, but you could if a team does not take Williams at first overall, aka the Chicago Bears.

There's no doubt Williams is the best quarterback and arguably the best prospect in this class. However, there is a ton of speculation on what the Bears should do with that pick. Should they keep it, trade Justin Fileds, and start fresh with Williams, or should they trade the pick or stick with Fields?

That will all be decided in the coming months, but if you ask NFL Network Draft Analyst Daniel Jeremiah, he believes number 13 is the way to go for Chicago.

"I think it’ll be Caleb Williams. I came away with the totality of studying him, thinking this guy has got some rare ability. He has gotten an unbelievable amount of horsepower in terms of how he can generate velocity with his arm, and what he can do with the force of his legs and his creativity. I think he’s a rare, rare talent and I just can’t see the Chicago Bears bypassing that."

Jeremiah is one of many who implores Chicago to draft Williams at one and trade Fields. There's nothing wrong with Fields; it's not about hating on Fields. But when you consider Williams, he's younger, more talented, and has arm strength, and it benefits the Bears financially as well. The Bears will get to reset the clock on when to pay their quarterback.

Everything about Williams makes sense; after that, it would be up to the Bears to not mess this up and build around their young potential quarterback.

There's nothing to talk about regarding the number one pick. It's number 13 by a mile; the discussion going forward should be who's the number two overall pick.
