USC Football: Pundit Thinks Utes’ Scoring Struggles Will Doom Team Vs Trojans

Not the same team they've been in the past.

USC faces off against the Utah Utes in a ranked matchup for their Week 8 contest on the gridiron.

Utah won both of their matchups last season but one expert thinks the Trojans have the upper hand this year due to the Utes' lackluster offense.

Utah has defeated Southern California three consecutive times, including twice last season to single-handedly keep the Trojans out of the College Football Playoff. But No. 16 USC will get some revenge, and a needed bounce-back win after last week’s debacle in South Bend, against the No. 14 Utes. Yes, Utah’s defense has been great and USC’s has still been mostly bad; but you need to score some points to beat the Trojans and the Utes just can’t do it. Utah is sitting 115th in yards per game and is tied for 109th in scoring. USC trails only Oregon in points per game and is No. 9 in total offense – and it seems unlikely Caleb Williams is going to throw three picks two weeks in a row. It might be a long day for the Utes at the L.A. Coliseum

Cam Rising remains out as Utah's starting quarterback remains out of game action due to a knee injury from last season.

Without their normal signal-caller directing their offense, Utah's offensive attack hasn't been the same for most of 2023.

The Utes' defense have kept them in all of their games this season but that streak could come to a close facing off against college football's best quarterback.

Caleb Williams is eager to bounce back from his worst game of the season and hopes to prove his Heisman bid isn't quite over just yet.

Three interceptions doomed USC to their first loss of the year but Williams and the Trojans hope to expose the Utes' deficiencies to get back on track.
