Despite everyone in the college football world knowing that USC quarterback Caleb Williams would be heading to the NFL, it took the signal-caller some time to make the announcement official. Each player tends to take time with decisions like this, and not many really thought about the time since the USC season ended.

But while on The Rich Eisen Show, college football insider Bruce Feldman discussed whether it was strange that Williams waited so long.

There has been talk for a while now about Williams going first overall in the NFL Draft, which is held by the Chicago Bears. Previously, there has been thought that he could try to avoid going to a team he didn't like by threatening to go back to college.

The two pundits hinted at this, but Chicago could be a good landing spot for Williams. While they already have a quarterback in Justin Fields, Williams is a rare talent that doesn't become available every day.

The Bears are going to have a tough decision on their hands. They could keep the pick or trade it for more draft capital if they are set on Fields as their quarterback going forward.

There are plenty of teams who would trade up to land whatever player they want, and Williams is likely to be one of the most highly valued members in the draft class. Behind Chicago, multiple teams could use his services.

Maybe the Washington Commanders or New England Patriots try to trade up to make sure they land Williams. Williams doesn't have much control over where he lands, much like any other prospect.

While he can threaten to not play for a team, it's only been done a few times over the history of the league. It's not a red flag that Williams took his time to make a decision, and if anything, it shows that he is thinking about how he wants his future to look.

Williams has a chance to be a real game-changer for whichever team drafts him. His skill set is one of the best in years, and teams may be trying to jump up for the chance to draft him this year.
