USC Football: Kalolo Ta'aga Is The Latest Trojan Commit - USC Recruiting Rolling

USC just received its third commitment in the past week.

Five days ago, USC's 2024 recruiting class had 17 commitments and Lincoln Riley was dealing with the departure of several talented players like wide receiver Mario Williams and running back Raleek Brown to the transfer portal.

But USC's recruiting department has stepped up to the plate by earning its third commitment over the past couple of days with the addition of Archbishop Riordan (East Palo Alto, CA) offensive tackle Kalolo Ta'aga. Ta'aga committed to the Trojans on 247Sports' YouTube channel this Sunday evening, fresh off an official visit to USC on December 8th. The video of his commitment is embedded at the bottom of this article.

Ta'aga had not played football until this season, his senior season, at Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco. He had played basketball prior to football but was able to develop into a intriguing offensive tackle prospect under his offensive line coach Ryan Jones and head coach Adhir Ravipati. USC offered Ta'aga back in November.

Ta'aga had previously been committed to San Jose State but ultimately reopened his recruiting and focused on selecting the best fit for him between Arizona, Cal, Utah and USC. While he is a relatively raw product still, it was clear to not only the aforementioned schools but clear also to other programs that offered him like Florida, BYU, and ASU that Ta'aga has barely scratched the surface of his potential as a football player.

In addition to Ta'aga's commitment, USC recently flipped a couple of defensive lineman who had previously been committed to other programs. Defensive tackle Jide Abasirihad has been committed to Minnesota, but USC was able to pull him out of Minnesota after getting him on campus for an official visit about a week ago. They used the same formula for Georgia product Lorenzo Cowan, a defense end/outside linebacker who was previously committed to Kentucky. USC's 2024 class now has 20 commits. For context, UCLA's 2024 class has 11.

It's safe to say that USC is on a pretty good track when it comes to recruiting, looking ahead to the program's first season in the Big 10 in 2024.
