USC Football: Trojans Offer 2024 Offensive Tackle Kalolo Ta’aga
Archbishop Riordan (San Francisco, CA) offensive tackle Kalolo Ta'aga took to Twitter to announce that he received a scholarship offer from USC. Worth noting is that this is Ta'aga's first and only season playing high school football.
"I started playing football 3-4 months ago." said Ta'aga in October.
Ta'aga measures up at 6'7, 265 pounds.
Ta'aga had been focused on basketball for the majority of his high school athletic career.
"It was a lot transitioning to playing DE then going to TE then moving to tackle...but I definitely had lots of fun in the journey to getting where I am now. I feel that basketball helped a lot especially with my footwork," he told Cougs Daily's Casey Lundquist.
It took but a few months of football to see Ta'aga receive offers from across the country in programs like Florida, Cal, Utah, Arizona, and now USC. He undoubtedly will face a steep learning curve at the next level, given his relative inexperience. One thing he has going for him is that the league he played in at Archbishop Riordan (West Catholic Athletic League or WCAL) is one of the best in the state of California. So he does have experience going up against division-one talent. Just, not a ton of reps yet.
USC currently has four other offensive line commits in their 2024 class, one of whom they flipped from Stanford. USC's 2024 class currently has 18 commits, and is holding steady with their commitments, all things (Alex Grinch firing) considered. With early signing day inching closer every day, we should see a strong late push from the Trojans on the recruiting front to sure-up their inaugural recruiting class as they enter the Big 10 next season.
