USC Football: Scouting Trojans Wide Receiver Commit Xavier Jordan

AllTrojans.com took a look at the senior's highlight tape to better understand what the Trojans are getting in Jordan.

Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA) wide receiver Xavier Jordan has been committed to USC since May. He was named an All-American a couple weeks back, and has recently been the subject of flip buzz in favor of Utah. He also plays alongside fellow Sierra Canyon safety/USC commit Marquis Gallegos. The 6-1 ~170-pound Jordan is a consensus top 100 prospect by all the major recruiting networks

We took a look at his Hudl film to better understand what the Trojans are getting in the So-Cal native.

He’s got excellent body control, something imperative to the wide receiver position, and can adjust to off-target passes very well. Can catch 50/50 balls and see through the pass into his hands in traffic. While the majority of his highlights were him running deep routes, he does have the ability to take short pass and screens to the house as well. He’s not a one-trick deep ball receiver, even though that part of his game is elite.

Jordan also displayed an excellent feel for leverage early and late in his routes. He’ll threaten an outside release and then cut over the middle for the deep in route and catch the pass in traffic like a true veteran. He’s also great at misdirecting cornerbacks off the line of scrimmage with his releases. Nothing too fancy, just a stutter-and-go or a slide-and-go.

We think he will eventually become a starter at any high power-five school, but with the talent that Lincoln Riley consistently brings in at the wide receiver position, he may have a wait a year ot two before earning a starting spot for the Trojans.
