USC Women's Volleyball: Big Ten Matchups On Docket For Women Of Troy
Your USC Women of Troy volleyball team is looking to build on the three-match winning streak that netted the program the Trojan Invitational title and a .500 record (4-4) on the year, with two bouts against members of their future conference later this week, two clubs it hasn't even played in a decade.
The action will take place during the Boilermaker Challenge, held at Purdue's Holloway Gymnasium in West Lafayette, Indiana, according to a USC presser. While there, USC will face off against the 4-3 University of Illinois Fighting Illini tomorrow, September 14th, at 2:30 p.m. PT. On Friday the 15th, the Women of Troy will square off against Purdue itself, which is 5-2 this year. That matchup will tip off at 5 p.m. PT.
Both games will be televised on the Big Ten Network, with Emily Ehman and Chris Vosters supplying commentary.
Fourth-year USC head coach Brad Keller is hoping that 6'2" senior outside hitter Skylar Fields, who's been red-hot in the early part of the year, will submit her eighth and ninth double-digit games of the season this week. Fields had been pegged as a Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Teamer, and thus far she has lived up to that billing, having been honored as the Most Outstanding Player of last weekend's Trojan Invitational. Comrades Gala Trubint and Lindsey Miller also made the All-Tournament Team, along with Fields.
Here's hoping their excellent recent play continues apace.
