On Friday, the Utah Utes received some very positive news on the transfer portal front. Georgia Tech defensive back transfer, Kenan Johnson, revealed that he will be transferring to Utah.

The Utes had success in bringing in a defensive back from the portal this season, in Ole Miss transfer Miles Battle, and now to replace the likely NFL-bound Battle, they'll turn to Johnson.

The 2024 season will mark Johnson's sixth year, and he is coming off his best season yet. He recorded a career high 29 total tackles, two forced fumbles, and also had one interception on the season for the Yellow Jackets. According to PFF, Johnson had a 72.5 grade in coverage, and has seen his coverage grade improve each and every year.

He is expected to come in and start in a secondary that has lost some key contributors already. He joins UCLA tight end transfer Carsen Ryan in Utah's growing transfer portal class.
