Just days after it was revealed the Utes lost wide receiver Mycah Pittman for the rest of the season due to injury, on Tuesday Kyle Whittingham revealed they also lost tight end Thomas Yassmin for the year with an undisclosed injury.

Yassmin is scheduled to have surgery later this week that will prevent him from returning this year. He becomes the fifth Ute player who is out for the season joining running backs Micah Bernard and Chris Curry along, defensive end Logan Fano and the aforementioned Pittman.

While the Utes' offense hasn't been the most prolific this season, Yassmin was taking advantage of the absence of Brant Kuithe. The former rugby player had the fourth most catches on the team (8), fifth most yards (89), and was tied for second on the team in touchdown catches (1).

His absence will likely force Utah to turn to Auburn transfer Landen King and Miki Suguturaga at the tight end spot to provide a boost. The two tight ends have combined for just four catches on 46 yards this season.
