Utah Signee Isaac Wilson Named 'Top Performer' Among All Quarterbacks At Polynesian Bowl
Tuesday marked the second day of practices at this year's Polynesian Bowl event, and Utah fans have to love what they are hearing about their future quarterback Isaac Wilson.
He is on Team Mauka, while notable names such as Bishop Gorman's Micah Alejado (Hawaii) and the No. 1 quarterback recruit Dylan Raiola (Nebraska) are on Team Makai. Wilson was already among the overall standouts from day one, but following his Tuesday showing 247Sports' Greg Biggins tabbed him as the "top performer" out of the quarterbacks specifically.
Biggins raved about his ability to make big throws without fear, and also touched on his accuracy at all three levels while some of the other quarterbacks look frazzled.
"If we had to pick a top performer today from the quarterback group it would have been Wilson. Talking with his coaches on his team, they really raved about his energy and aptitude. He looked in total command and was fearless taking shots down the field. He’s a very confident kid and it has shown with his play this week. While a few of the players have looked overwhelmed at times, Wilson has had back to back really strong workouts. He's decisive with his reads, gets the ball out quick and has been accurate to all three levels of the field. He's a natural leader as well and one of the more popular kids among his teammates all week," wrote Biggins.
Wilson is expected to come in and compete for the backup role behind Cam Rising next season, who is returning for his seventh season. This past season, Wilson ended up winning Gatorade Utah Football Player of the Year and was also a finalist for MaxPreps Player of the Year.
En route to leading Corner Canyon to a state title, Wilson ended up throwing for 49 touchdowns to just nine interceptions while completing 65% of his passes. He also showed an ability to be dangerous with his legs, as he rushed for 1,304 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns on the ground.
