Utah's Morgan Scalley Addresses 'Handshake-Gate' Scandal With Jedd Fish
On Saturday, an injury-depleted Utah Utes team took the field against the Arizona Wildcats who continue to be the hottest team in college football.
The Wildcats dismantled the back-to-back Pac-12 champions, winning by a score of 42-18, marking their fourth win over a ranked opponent since October 14. Utah was revealed to have lost a few more players due to injury and were also fighting a flu-like bug as well, and to say they looked like shells of themselves would be an understatement. Arizona was the much more physical team, and played mistake-free football.
Utah on the other hand looked as if they were already looking ahead to the end of the season and simply just trying to get through the game. However, despite the final score being separated by 24 points, there was some controversy towards the end of the game and after the game. Utah fans appeared to be upset that Arizona took a deep shot with around 30 seconds left in the game as they scored on a 51-yard touchdown pass. Kyle Whittingham downplayed it after the game, but something that was circling social media following the loss was defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley "snubbing" Arizona head coach Jed Fisch of a handshake.
A video that went viral depicted Fisch going up to shake Scalley's hand, but appeared that Scalley ignored the effort. Something he addressed, saying he simply didn't see Fisch.
The loss dropped Utah to 7-4 on the season, and the team that was once viewed as the best in program history will now look ahead to Deion Sanders' Colorado squad this next weekend to finish out the season.
