Swedish Forward Edessa Noyan Commits to UVA Women's Basketball
The recruiting roll for Coach Mox and the UVA women's basketball program continues. The Cavaliers earned their third recruiting victory in the last six days with the commitment of Edessa Noyan, a 6'3" forward from Botkyrka, Sweden on Thursday.
The international product will join UVA's recruiting class of 2023 set to arrive on Grounds this summer and Noyan brings a great deal of high-level basketball experience with her. Noyan represented Sweden at the 2022 U18 Nordic Championships and led her team to the championship, averaging 18.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. She also played for Sweden's U18 team at the 2022 FIBA Women's European Championship last August. Noyan has spent the last few seasons with Sodertalje BBK, one of the best clubs in Sweden's top division of women's basketball, and averaged 7.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in 25 appearances in 2022-2023.
Noyan originally committed to San Francisco back in November 2022, but has decided to join Virginia's already-loaded recruiting class of 2023, which includes a pair of top 50 recruits in Kymora Johnson and Olivia McGhee. Noyan is the third player to commit to the Virginia women's basketball program just this week, joining Arizona transfer guard Paris Clark and Kansas State transfer center Taylor Lauterbach, who announced her commitment to UVA earlier on Thursday.
Virginia will add Edessa Noyan, Kymora Johnson, Olivia McGhee, Paris Clark, and Taylor Lauterbach to next season's roster which features the following returners: Yonta Vaughn, Mir McLean, Kaydan Lawson, Camryn Taylor, Alexia Smith, Cady Pauley, Sam Brunelle, and London Clarkson. Coach Mox and the Cavaliers are primed for a big season in 2023-2024.
