2024 Four-Star Point Guard Planning a Visit to Virginia
One of the top point guards in the recruiting class of 2024 is planning to take a visit to Virginia. Four-star Travis Perry, ranked the No. 10 point guard in the country, is reportedly in the midst of scheduling a visit to the Cavaliers for the near future, per an interview with 247Sports' Travis Branham on Wednesday.
A 6'2" guard from Lyon County in Eddyville, Kentucky, Perry has collected an impressive list of offers, featuring more than 15 major conference programs. Virginia jumped in the mix with an offer back on October 22nd and Perry has developed a good relationship with Tony Bennett, although his main recruiter on the UVA coaching staff was Kyle Getter, who has since been hired as the associate head coach at Notre Dame.
“They play the right type of basketball," Perry said of Virginia in the interview with Branham. "They play hard, have guys that play similar to how I play and I had a good relationship with coach Getter who went to Notre Dame, but I have talked to coach Bennett and been in contact with some of their other coaches, so seeing what they have to offer there.”
Perry has taken three official visits to Michigan, Purdue, and Ole Miss and is working on two more officials, one to Virginia and another one possibly to UCLA, but he has yet to set specific dates for those visits.
“I hope to take one trip to Virginia and not sure where I will take the last one yet," Perry said. "I will potentially take it to UCLA. They have started reaching out and thinking about taking one to there.”
Perry is a talented floor general with excellent passing skills and he has established himself as one of the top perimeter shooters in his class. 247Sports rates Perry as the No. 83 overall player in the class of 2024, the No. 10 point guard in the country, and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Kentucky.
Perry attends Lyon County in Eddyville, but he plays for Indiana Elite on the AAU circuit, the same team that Kyle Guy played for.
