Anthony Robinson Signs National Letter of Intent With Virginia
Anthony Robinson, a three-star forward/center in the class of 2023, has officially signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Virginia men's basketball program starting in the 2023-2024 season, UVA head coach Tony Bennett announced on Monday afternoon.
“We are excited to add Anthony to our basketball program,” Bennett said. “He has good size, strength and physicality. Anthony is a hard worker with great upside. He and his family value a degree from the University of Virginia.”
A 6'10", 238-pound big man from Peachtree City, Georgia, Robinson was initially signed to South Florida, but received a release from his NLI this spring after South Florida underwent a coaching change. Several programs pursued Robinson as he had an impressive senior season in 2022-2023, averaging a double-double with 10.0 points and 10.0 rebounds along with 2.0 blocks per game to lead Christ School (Arden, North Carolina) to a 31-4 overall record and its first state championship in 12 years.
Robinson and his family visited UVA last week and he announced his commitment to the Cavaliers on Saturday.
“I chose Virginia because it’s a great program with great culture,” Robinson said. “The coaches are great and are invested in my development and I’m excited to see what the future holds. I like the emphasis on academics and the Grounds are beautiful. Plus, the basketball facilities are world class!”
Robinson is fourth player to sign with Virginia in the last few weeks, joining Merrimack transfer Jordan Minor, St. Thomas transfer Andrew Rohde, and Oklahoma transfer Jacob Groves. He joins UVA's 2023 recruiting class, which includes four-stars Blake Buchanan and Elijah Gertrude, who both signed with the Cavaliers back in November. Robinson, Buchanan, and Gertrude are expected to arrive on Grounds in June.
