The non-conference schedule for the 2023-2024 Virginia men's basketball season is nearly complete. Per reports from The D1 Docket, a site covering the releases of non-conference college basketball matchups, UVA has scheduled games against two more non-conference opponents for next season, both at home and both against opponents from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Virginia will reportedly host North Carolina A&T on November 14th and Northeastern on December 16th.

Virginia and North Carolina A&T have met just once before, a 94-50 victory for UVA on November 30th, 1994 at University Hall. Junior Burrough led the Cavaliers with 24 points, Cory Alexander and Curtis Staples had 17 points apiece, and current UVA associate head coach Jason Williford was in the starting five and had six points as well. The Aggies went 13-19 overall last season and finished tied for sixth in the CAA. Their last NCAA Tournament appearance came in 2013.

December 16th will also be the second-ever meeting between Virginia and Northeastern. UVA beat Northeastern 82-60 in the lone previous matchup on November 24th, 1989 in Charlottesville. Bryant Stith had 23 points and John Crotty had 14. Northeastern went 10-20 overall last season and finished 9th in the CAA. The Huskies' last NCAA Tournament appearance came in 2019, but they won the CAA regular season title as recently as 2021.

It was also reported by Jon Rothstein earlier this month that the matchups for the 2023 Fort Myers Tip-Off have been determined. Per Rothstein's report, Virginia will face Wisconsin in the first round at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, Florida on November 20th, while SMU and West Virginia will be paired up in the other game. The winners and losers of those games will play each other on November 22nd.

UVA and Wisconsin have faced each other six times, with four of those games coming in the last 12 years. Virginia holds a 4-2 all-time record against Wisconsin and the Cavaliers have claimed three of the last four meetings with the Badgers. Wisconsin went 20-15 overall last season and missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018.

Additionally, we have learned that Virginia's game at Memphis as the first part of a home-and-home between the two programs will be played on December 19th at FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.

Here's what we know about the non-conference slate for the 2023-2024 Virginia men's basketball season so far (home games in bold):

November 10th: Virginia vs. Florida [Charlotte, NC]
November 14th: Virginia vs. North Carolina A&T
November 16th: Virginia vs. Texas Southern
November 20th: Virginia vs. Wisconsin [Fort Myers, FL]
November 22th: Virginia vs. SMU/West Virginia [Fort Myers, FL]
December 16th: Virginia vs. Northeastern
December 19th: Virginia at Memphis
December 27th: Virginia vs. Morgan State
TBA: Virginia vs. TBD SEC opponent [ACC/SEC Challenge]

Virginia's 10th non-conference game could be a road matchup at Charlotte as a byproduct of Ron Sanchez stepping down as head coach of the 49ers to return to UVA as associate head coach on Tony Bennett's staff. Charlotte athletic director Mike Hill indicated earlier this month that Virginia and Charlotte could be playing next season in the Charlotte area.
