The Cavaliers are reportedly adding another high-profile matchup to their non-conference schedule for the 2023-2024 college basketball season. According to a report from Jon Rothstein on Friday afternoon, Virginia and Memphis are in the process of scheduling a home-and-home series beginning with a matchup at FedEx Forum in Tennessee in 2023-2024 followed by a return game at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville in the 2024-2025 season.

This would be just the second-ever meeting between these two programs. Virginia and Memphis played just once before, a 78-60 victory for UVA in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Five different Cavaliers scored in double figures in that game, led by Joe Harris with 16 points, and Virginia advanced to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 1995.

It was also reported back in February that Virginia will play a neutral-site non-conference game against Florida next season. On November 10th, UVA will face Florida and Virginia Tech will play South Carolina in an ACC-SEC doubleheader at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte next season. Additionally, the Cavaliers will face another SEC team in non-conference play next season as part of the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge, which is set to replace the ACC/Big Ten Challenge next season.

Virginia is also slated to play in the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off tournament from November 20-22 at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, Florida. UVA is joined by West Virginia, SMU, and Wisconsin in the four-team Beach Division field for the Fort Myers Tip-Off.

Finally, Jon Rothstein also reported on Friday afternoon that Virginia will host Morgan State during non-conference play next season. UVA and Morgan State have met four times before, with the Cavaliers winning all four games, the most recent of which was an 83-45 victory for Virginia in 2018. Back in January 2022, Virginia hired Morgan State's vice president and director of athletics Dr. Edward Scott to be UVA's deputy athletics director

In summary, here's what we know about the non-conference slate for the 2023-2024 Virginia men's basketball season so far:

November 10th: Virginia vs. Florida [Charlotte]
November 20th: Virginia vs. SMU/Wisconsin/West Virginia [Fort Myers]
November 22th: Virginia vs. SMU/Wisconsin/West Virginia [Fort Myers]
TBA: Virginia vs. Morgan State
TBA: Virginia at Memphis
TBA: Virginia vs. TBD SEC opponent [ACC/SEC Challenge]
