Virginia Transfer Isaac Traudt Commits to Creighton
Just four days after officially entering the transfer portal, Isaac Traudt has found his *new* home. Former Virginia forward Isaac Traudt announced his commitment to Creighton in a social media post on Friday morning.
Traudt's commitment to Creighton comes as no surprise as he made it clear in his farewell post to Virginia on Monday that he wanted to be closer to home. "After a lot of thought and consideration, I realized that nothing means more to me than home," Traudt said on Monday." A Nebraska native, the transfer to Creighton in Omaha moves him just two hours away from his home town of Grand Island, Nebraska, and he will also be attending the same school as his girlfriend, who plays volleyball at Creighton.
It's difficult to argue with the merits of this decision, as Traudt returns his home state and reunites with his loved ones while also joining a Creighton program that won 24 games this year and came within a point or two of reaching the Final Four, falling to San Diego State 57-56 in the Elite Eight.
Nevertheless, it is undoubtedly frustrating from the perspective of the Virginia men's basketball program to see a player as talented as Traudt, a former four-star and top 75 overall recruit, leave UVA without ever playing in game.
Virginia currently has two other players in the transfer portal - Francisco Caffaro and Kadin Shedrick. Keep track of all of Virginia's movement in the transfer portal here: Virginia Basketball Transfer Portal Updates
