Spread & Over/Under Predictions for WVU vs. Cincinnati

Can the Mountaineers cover the spread?

Each game day, we will release an article on our thoughts on the spread and the over/under of West Virginia games. The star ratings next to the play describe the overall confidence in that particular play.

Star ratings:

1 Star - Not very confident

2 Star - A little confident

3 Star - Fairly confident

4 Star - Very confident

5 Star - Should be a lock to happen

Spread: Cincinnati -3.5

1-star play on Cincinnati covering (-3.5): This line is exactly where I pegged it to be, so I'm not entirely in love with this play. That said, Cincinnati has played extremely well and could very easily be 5-2 or 6-1 in Big 12 play. In their four conference losses, all to top 25 teams, they've lost by a combined 13 points. They're in a much better rhythm right now than WVU, so we'll lay the points I suppose.

Over/Under: 144.5

1-star play on the under: The last three games for Cincinnati and the last two for West Virginia finished with a total under this number. The Mountaineers' defense has been atrocious all season long but has improved over the last two games, holding UCF and Oklahoma State to 72 and 70. Meanwhile, Cincinnati is averaging 67.3 over its past three. I do expect the Bearcats to cross the 70-point mark but I'm not so sure the Mountaineers get there.

Last year's picks:

ATS record: 8-12 (40%)

O/U record: 12-8 (60%)

Overall: 20-20 (50%)
