Wisconsin Badgers Injury Update

Following their 20-14 defeat to the Indiana Hoosiers, Wisconsin Badgers Head Coach Luke Fickell spoke to the press at a media conference where he provided updates on injured players Chimere Dike, Tanner Mordecai, and Braelon Allen.
"Chim warmed up, Tanner warmed up a little bit," Fickell responded. "Hopefully it's getting close, but It's hard to tell, right?"

He elaborated, "When guys don't practice much during the week, you know, it's really difficult to say you're going to put them out there for their safety as well as for, you know, obviously the execution of what it is that we do.  So I don't know that they were really close."

The Road to Recovery

Tanner Mordecai suffered a hand injury during their October 14th game against Iowa. During the second quarter, Mordecai's right hand struck the helmet of Iowa linebacker Jay Higgins. Braelon Allen and Chimere Dike both suffered leg injuries during the Badgers' October 28 game against Ohio State. Before that in September running back Chez Mellusi was injured in the fourth quarter though no update on his status was given during the press conference.

While Mordecai and Dike warming up with the team is a promising sign that they will be back soon, Fickell's update was cautious. Their absence continues to impact the Badgers' performance as they've lost three out of the last four games. The team needs to adapt quickly if they're going to stay in the running for the Big Ten Championship. Wisconsin's next shot is this weekend at home at Camp Randall Stadium where they'll take on Northwestern.
