Cubs fans are surely excited to have established manager Joe Maddon in charge of their team, but the Chicago media has to be equally thrilled, as long as he keeps feeding them quotes like this one.

"I like players who shoot things," Maddon said Tuesday, according to CBSSports.com. "Once with the Rays, Wade Davis killed a 300-pound black bear before a playoff game. That gave me even more confidence in him to face just a human right-handed hitter, compared to a 300-pound bear."

Maddon was referring to his discussion with free agent pitcher/hunting entusiast Jon Lester, who is reportedly choosing between the Cubs and Giants.

No wonder so many people gathered to hear him talk.
