Draymond Green Offers Rudy Gobert Backhanded Praise on Kyle Anderson Altercation
Warriors forward Draymond Green weighed in on the Rudy Gobert incident which occurred during the Timberwolves’ regular-season finale on Sunday. After Minnesota’s center was seen throwing a punch at teammate Kyle Anderson during a timeout in the game against the Pelicans, Green took to Twitter with a brief reaction.
The Warriors forward elaborated on the altercation on the latest episode of his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, during which he slapped Gobert with backhanded compliments.
After stating he believed the Timberwolves’ center was “on the softer side,” Green commended Gobert for standing up for himself—mainly because he wasn’t aware the big man was capable of doing so.
“I personally think Rudy Gobert is a little on the softer side, myself. He gained a little respect from me,” said Green. “Because he stood up for himself. I’ve never really seen the guy stand up for himself. Didn’t really know if the guy was capable of standing up for himself. He stood up for himself a bit.”
Green ultimately declared that in a “team setting,” getting into a physical altercation with Anderson was the wrong decision. Though, he admitted he relates better to the situation than most.
Of course, Green got into a physical altercation with teammate Jordan Poole during a Warriors’ practice back in October just before the 2022–23 NBA season. Golden State fined Green an undisclosed amount as a result of that situation. Gobert, on the other hand, was sent home from the Timberwolves’ game on Sunday and was handed a one-game suspension by the organization.
