There’s no doubt that Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best big men in basketball right now. But NBA fans called for the Timberwolves star to pump the brakes on Wednesday when a bold quote of his went viral.

While appearing on The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone, Towns was asked where he thought he fit in with big men in today’s NBA. His answer was confident to say the least.

“I feel like when my time’s up, and I retire and I put the shoes up . . . I feel like there’s people that’s gonna say that I changed the game,” Towns said. “And I’m gonna be very appreciative of that. When this is all over, there’s gonna be kids coming up saying that they’re gonna be able to play a different way because I played in the NBA and did it a different way.”

Towns is likely referring to his shooting ability for someone of his seven-foot stature, but he’s not the first big man of his size to be able to shoot from behind the arc. His career accomplishments, although impressive, didn’t exactly illicit a resounding agreement from Twitter either, as he has just three All Star appearances and has never led his team past the first round of the playoffs. Even Draymond Green took a shot at Towns’s bold take.

Here are some of the other best reactions to the center’s prediction:
