Cubs’ Christopher Morel Had Best Celebration of MLB Season After His Walk-Off Home Run
A walk-off home run Wednesday night for the Cubs might have produced the celebration of the season at Wrigley Field.
With the Cubs in the thick of the playoff race and facing the crosstown rival White Sox, designated hitter Christopher Morel delivered in the clutch. After the Cubs’ offense had been quiet all night, Morel stepped up to the plate with two runners aboard in the bottom of the ninth inning. The result: A walk-off three-run blast to right-center field that sent fans at Wrigley into a frenzy and had the Cubs celebrating like they had won the World Series.
Here’s a look at the wild celebration.
From ditching his helmet before touching second to the full-blown sprint around the bases and even throwing off his jersey before touching home, it’s obvious that the win meant a lot to Morel. He even tore his undershirt after scoring the winning run.
The celebration was certainly justified, given where the Cubs currently sit in the NL playoff picture. In what was supposed to be somewhat of a rebuilding season, the Cubs are holding onto an NL Wild Card spot and are now just 2.5 games behind the Brewers for the top spot in the NL Central. Plus, who doesn’t love beating your rival?
