Tony Gonzalez Says Ayahuasca, Darkness Retreat Will Benefit Aaron Rodgers During Recovery
The Amazon Prime broadcast booth was discussing Aaron Rodgers’s season-ending Achilles injury ahead of Week 2’s Thursday Night Football clash between the Eagles and Vikings.
Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez weighed in on the topic with an eye-opening take about Rodgers’s recovery, suggesting that the 39-year-old’s unusual array of offseason activities could prove beneficial as he works his way back to action.
Gonzalez stated that Rodgers’s use of ayahuasca and the well-publicized darkness retreat he went on may both stand to help him mentally while he recovers from his injury.
“I do not expect that to be his last play out there on that football field. This is why you do the ayahuasca and the darkness retreat. It’s not just for the good times; it’s for the bad times. He is mentally prepared to tackle this mountain. Because it’s going to be a mountain for him,” said Gonzalez. “I can’t wait to see him back out there, run out on that field next year, and maybe go for a Super Bowl run.”
Much was made during the offseason about Rodgers’s darkness retreat, but Gonzalez thinks that the work he did on his mental health will be critical as goes through a lengthy recovery process.
