Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen’s time together on the Chicago Bulls was special.

But things between them have gone sour the past few years. It’s gotten so personal Pippen claims Jordan wouldn’t be a champion without his presence.

In a recent interview of DJ Vlad’s VladTV, NBA legend Dominique Wilkins said Pippen wouldn’t have the amount of success he had without Jordan.

“When I hear him say that, I’m saying to myself ‘What’s really going on with Scottie?’,” Wilkins said. “Because anybody who knows basketball is like ‘You don’t win those rings without Jordan.’ Yeah, does Jordan win six rings without Scottie? Probably not. But at the same time, you don’t even get in that position without MJ. Period. I mean, anybody who knows the game and who played against Mike knows how fierce of a competitor he was. And they had great pieces to that Chicago team. They had a great Scottie Pippen, they had Horace Grant. You had Kukoc, you had Kerr and Paxton. You had a great nucleus on that team. And everybody accepted their role. That was the difference but Scottie is dealing with something else. Man, I don’t know what it is. I wish I could tell you.”

It’s no secret the Bulls were the best team back then. Whenever Jordan and Pippen were together, the Bulls were automatic championship favorites. Together, they won six championships including two 3-peats.

But it was their success which started the feud. The Netflix’s documentary The Last Dance was mainly centered around Jordan and his legacy. In his Unguarded memoir, Pippen expressed his dislike for how Jordan was portrayed in the documentary.

“They glorified Michael Jordan while not giving nearly enough praise to me and my proud teammates,” Pippen said. “Michael deserved a large portion of the blame. The producers had granted him editorial control of the final product. The doc couldn’t have been released otherwise. He was the leading man and the director.”

Pippen might have the right to feel this way but to say Jordan would be unsuccessful without him is a stretch.
