Report: Vikings 'in contention' for former Colts linebacker Shaq Leonard
The Colts surprisingly released Leonard on Friday.
The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly one of the teams in contention for linebacker Shaq Leonard, who was released this week by the Indianapolis Colts.
NFL insider Dianna Russini, writing for The Athletic, reports that the Vikings, Eagles and Cowboys are "collecting information" on Leonard, though she notes that Leonard may "take his time" making a decision.
The Vikings are looking for extra help at linebacker after Jordan Hicks went on the injured reserve, with the Vikings bringing back Anthony Barr to provide extra cover.
Leonard was released by the Colts just two years after signing a five-year, $98 million contract.
He told the media after his release Tuesday: "It was the biggest surprise ever but I don't make those decisions."
